The World According to Gip
I live by my highest values.
Is Time on Your Side?

If you missed my last post about what drives your behavior, Question #1 was, “How to do you fill your space?” This of your primary workspace. Does it reveal anything to you?
You might say, “Uh, well, I have my cell phone near me at all times. Does that count?” Answer: yes. But what does it represent?
Does it signify your connection with others? Does it represent access to intelligence from other resources (beyond Google)? Does it serve as your productivity tracker? What’s its key purpose?
Like most, my cell phone is close by at all times. More than anything, it is my taskmaster where I capture everything I want to achieve in a given day. It’s my digital planner.
And, while I’ve also been keeping a handwritten planner since 1988 (yes, old school), I find it an invaluable tool to review what’s on my plate and what I’ve accomplished.
But that’s just one of three answers to Question #1. What else fills your space? Do you have family photos? Awards? Inspirational quotes? Sports memorabilia? They have significance as well.
As you ponder those answers, allow me to preview the next probe into your behavior.
Question #2: How do you spend your time?
I love this question because it is so freaking revealing! We all think we work 40-hour weeks when, after a minimal review, it’s closer to 20!
It’s true.
We are only halfway effective. How you spend your time reveals what you gravitate toward. It’s where your brain wants you to go.
Hint: If the answer is work-related, describe that task or function specifically. Don’t just say “work.”
So that’s your home “work” for today. Write down the three answers to this question and we’ll see you on the other side of your answers.
Keep driving forward.
